Learn about local history, enjoy the companionship of other friendly paddlers, and improve your canoe or kayak skills on this lovely stretch of river! Our ‘Canal Cruise’ is a 12-river-mile trip between Bloomsburg and Danville with stops at several fascinating, historical canal features. The trip benefits the Montour Area Recreation Commission.
The trip meets at the Downtown Danville River Access near the intersection of Water and Ferry Streets. If you have any personal canoes or kayaks (see our Bring Your Own Boat program), we’ll help you load them on our trailers when you arrive. Any and all other personal gear that you’d like to have on the river must be loaded into our vehicles for the shuttle to Bloomsburg Town Park.
In Bloomsburg, we’ll unload gear and Canoe Susquehanna Lead Guide, Allan Quant, will deliver his epic, headlining, always sold-out, roll-in-the-isles laughing, critically-acclaimed river safety and paddling instruction presentation! An historic event in and of itself!
Once on the water, keep alert for sightings of bald eagles and herons. There will be opportunities to swim and cool off new friends with our complementary water blasters. Our guides will be pointing out canal remnants as well as old eel weirs in the river bottom.
On a 12-mile trip, you may get hungry! Be sure to bring a bag lunch to eat on our ‘cruise.’
Cost is $55 per person. If you plan to use a Canoe Susquehanna kayak, please review the Our Canoes and Kayaks page to help you decide which model you would prefer to use.
Save $10 for a cost of $45 per person if you Bring Your Own Boat.
Reservations are required. Send us an email (Mail@PaddleHappy.com) or give us a call (888-524-7692 or 570-524-7692) for details and to book your spot!
